Tommy Boy Movie Review

Tommy Callahan (Chris Farley) has finally graduated college after seven years. Unfortunately his father dies and now Tommy Boy has to rescue the family’s brake shoe business before it’s devoured by arch-rival Ray Zalinksy (Dan Akroyd). So Tommy and company accountant Richard (David Spade) set off on a road trip to sell brake to keep the family business going. On this trip Tommy and Richard get into a bunch of random antics which can appeal to most people because of how funny they are. Like a car that falls to pieces while they were driving, and the famous “Fat Guy in a Little Coat” song. Tommy Boy unspools just as you expect it to, and the comedy is as unrewarding as the story. The audience is left with the memory of Farley trapped inside of his enormous sweaty body, and Spade trapped inside his repellent persona. It’s a shame that Farley and Spade did not get more opportunities to fine-tune their comedic partnership like in “Tommy Boy”.
